100labs is one of the latest additions to Kampong Glam. Opened in August last year, they offer a wide variety of gelato flavours to pair with freshly made waffles. The flavours are divided into two categories i.e. “Shiok” (singlish for enjoyable) for the common flavours; and “Atas” (singlish for sophisticated) for the premium, unique flavours. With flavours being rotated every few days, you will definitely be able to find something new during each visit.
We ordered two “Buttermilk Oomph!” (half) which comprises half signature waffles, along with one scoop of our chosen gelato. The waffles are made to order, ensuring that each piece is served piping hot. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, it was dusted with fine powdered sugar and golden syrup was drizzled on the side.
It’s worth mentioning that half waffles aren’t common… So 100labs is definitely ideal for the small eaters.
Pistachio and Vanilla Gelato with Buttermilk Oomph Waffles
The vanilla ice-cream had a light milky sweetness, while the pistachio ice cream had a delightful nuttiness. Both of the gelatos paired really well with the waffles. Having the syrup drizzled on the side gave us the freedom to decide how much syrup we wanted to eat with our waffles.
On top of being open till midnight, they also offer the “Buttermilk Jiaboom!” (S$10.90) – Waffles strip-cut coated with cinnamon sugar, fresh berries topped with chocolate and golden syrup; as well as the Mixed Platter which is a combination of the Oomph & Jibaboom waffles (S$11.90) on weekends (Fridays to Sundays).
100labs will also be releasing a new menu next month which includes some savoury dishes, so keep your eyes peeled!
