Rosewood Phnom Penh is excited to present the inaugural Taste of Cambodia, an immersive culinary experience celebrating the nation’s rich f&b culture. From 12 to 15 September, this first-ever event will showcase unforgettable bar takeovers, dynamic chef collaborations, and a lavish Sunday brunch.

Alongside a series of gastronomic experiences, the event will include a charity dinner on 14 September 2024. Five chefs will come together to raise funds for non-profit organisation, Smiling Gecko. As a trusted partner of Rosewood Phnom Penh, Smiling Gecko provides support to approximately 30,000 Khmer residents through education, vocational training, and sustainable farming initiatives.

Nikka Whisky Takeover at Whisky Library, Rosewood Phnom Penh

The Taste of Cambodia will commence with a Nikka Whisky takeover on 12 September 2024. Japan’s renowned producer of single malts and versatile blends will establish a year-long presence at the Whisky Library—an unprecedented partnership in Cambodia. This collaboration allows guests to savour the brand’s exceptional spirits in the refined, club-like setting of Rosewood Phnom Penh’s cosy bar and lounge.

Nikka Whisky, founded in 1940 by Masataka Taketsuru, is one of Japan’s most prestigious whisky producers, known for its exceptional single malts and versatile blends. Taketsuru, who studied whisky-making in Scotland, established the Yoichi Distillery in Hokkaido in 1934, followed by the Miyagikyo Distillery in Miyagi for its pristine water quality. Nikka’s whiskies are celebrated worldwide for their craftsmanship, blending traditional Scottish methods with Japanese precision.

On 13 September 2024, Hisatsugu Saito from Sapporo’s famed Bar Owl & Rooster will make a guest appearance at Sora. Saito will be mixing the signature cocktails that earned Owl & Rooster a spot on Asia’s 50 Best Bars Discovery list—all crafted with Nikka Whisky. Guests can enjoy Saito’s expertly made cocktails while indulging in Bubbles and Oyster sets, featuring a bottle of Luc Belaire sparkling wine and two dozen oysters.

Look forward to over 3,000 bottles from 279 varieties to complement your dining experience.

Alexis Moko - Dishes

Recognised as a World’s 50 Best Discovery restaurant and named Best Restaurant in Cambodia by Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia, CUTS will offer Moko’s exclusive set menus in three and five courses. Featured dishes include beef striploin with baked beetroot, fermented black garlic, miso, and red wine jus, as well as sea bass served with Champagne sauce and caviar.


A Special Four-hands Dinner at Restaurant Zhan Liang

On 14 September 2024, Rosewood Phnom Penh’s modern Chinese restaurant, Zhan Liang, will present a special four-hands dinner featuring the hotel’s Chef Teng Kam Seng alongside Chef Matthew Geng from Nan Bei, the award-winning Chinese restaurant at Rosewood Bangkok. Together, the chefs will create exquisite Chinese dishes, including Chef Teng’s steamed Australian abalone and Chef Matthew’s M9 Mayura Wagyu striploin with asparagus and Kampot black pepper.

Complete the dining experience at Zhan Liang with their selection of alcoholic beverages–ranging from Asian-inspired handcrafted cocktails to Chinese Baijiu.


IBC Annual Charity Dinner

On 14 September, the IBC Annual Ball at Salon 1 will feature a remarkable 10-hands charity dinner led by a star-studded team of chefs: Alexis Moko from Moko, Sothea Seng; owner of Siem Reap’s farm-to-table restaurant Lum Orng; Villa 5 chef and cookbook author Sopheak Sao; celebrity chef Mariya Un Noun from Farmhouse Restaurants at Smiling Gecko; and Rosewood Phnom Penh’s acclaimed pastry chef Sonara Sieng.

This culinary showcase will highlight each chef’s unique expertise, from French fine dining to innovative Khmer cuisine. Indulge in dishes such as Ambok rice-crusted scallops; beef tenderloin with smoked brisket; and a dark chocolate ball with “gecko” vanilla cream.

Proceeds will support Smiling Gecko and go to empowering local Cambodian communities through education and sustainable development projects, including a farming initiative that supplies the hotel with premium produce and artisanal goods.
