With over two decades in the spirits industry, you’ve witnessed a lot of changes. How do you think consumer tastes have shifted when it comes to whisky?


Teddy: Consumer tastes in whisky have undergone significant shifts, driven by evolving preferences and demographic changes. Today’s enthusiasts seek complexity, nuance, and unique flavour profiles, driving demand for premium and craft whiskies. There’s a growing interest in independent distilleries, sustainable practices, and eco-friendly production methods.

Consumers are also more experimental, willing to try new styles, finishes, and production methods. Education and connoisseurship have become increasingly important, with enthusiasts seeking knowledge and experiences. As a result, brands like Bowmore have adapted by releasing innovative expressions, emphasising heritage and craftsmanship, and engaging with consumers through digital platforms and experiences.

Teddy: My background in hospitality has equipped me with the required skills to better empathise and connect with the guests I educate, and to make sure they are satisfied and understand the information I am giving them.

As someone who learns in a manner of different ways (via reading / visual / audio etc.) I try to incorporate these elements in how I present / educate. I see my role as focusing on driving brand awareness and bringing to life the brand stories to a wider audience while making it more accessible.
