Prudential Marina Bay Carnival is back and it’s bigger and better than previous editions. With the addition of three new rides that hail all the way from Europe, there are now a total of 50 thrilling rides and games!
Last year, the carnival received a whopping 1.4 million visitors (despite having its event ground split between two locations). However, they have since made it more accessible for the public this year by holding it within Bayfront event space. To date, it is still the largest pop-up amusement park that has graced our little red dot.

2. There’s something for everyone
From kid-friendly joyrides, heart-thumping thrillers to a challenging game of long-range basketball, there is surely something that will entice you.
Wave Swinger
This year, the centrepiece of the carnival goes by the name of Wave Swinger (9 Credits). Featuring several iconic landmarks painted on the murals, see if you can spot our very own Gardens By The Bay and Marina Bay Sands.
The only scare factor is when it gradually speeds up and tilts at an almost 45-degree angle – the perfect ride for couples to cling onto one another?
Das Fun Schiff
Das Fun Schiff (8 Credits) when translated, means ‘the fun ship’ and it definitely did not disappoint. We reminisced the good ol’ days when Escape Theme Park was still in operation. Back then, the pirate ship was a crowd’s favourite.
The gravitational pull made us feel as if we were going to fall off our seats, but as we swang in a pendulum motion, the tension soon found release from our bodies and we were left feeling pumped up.
We were also super proud of our fellow shipmate – a brave 5-year-old girl that took on the last row with her father! So what are you adults waiting for?
Jumper Jumper
Here’s a ride for those who are afraid of the heights, but still want to get their adrenaline fix. Jumper Jumper (9 credits) is a high-speed ride that will peak as it plunges in a vertical motion, simulating the ‘raging bull’ in mid-air. The neon lights and graffiti design add value to the entire experience as you can challenge your friends to strike their best poses after conquering it.
Spring Break/ Freak Out
Resembling a human claw machine, Spring Break (10 credits) tops the thrill factor this year. While we are still a fan of the Mach 5, it is worth mentioning that this bad boy swings and thrusts you in the air at a 90-degree angle – you’ll probably see Marina Bay Sands in angles you have never imagined! Definitely not a ride for the faint-hearted. It’s also advisable to avoid taking this ride with a full stomach.
Mach 5
Introducing our favourite ride from the lot, here’s the Mach 5 (14 credits). It propels you off the ground and at 55 metres up in the air, you can enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the carnival and scream to your heart’s content as it reaches full speed at 96 km/hour. This ride may just be what you need to relieve the stress you have been feeling from an entire day of work or school.
Take on the Ring Toss, and if lady luck is on your side, you may just find yourself bagging home a large unicorn plush toy that will leave others green with envy. Going for 8 credits per bucket, the booth is always crowded during the peak operating hours. Some say it may be a test of skills and patience, but we suggest you take a ‘no expectation no disappointment’ approach instead.
Who says girls can’t handle their guns? Shoot The Stack (5 credits / 4 corks) has drawn many female contenders and the best part? Many of them actually successfully walk away with their prize – a dumbo toy!
The game is simple, all you have to do is to load up the air pistol with the wooden cork provided, take your aim and fire (without crossing the red line). A steady hand and accuracy are crucial, so bring on your A-game!
Wiggle Wires (5 credits, 3 tries) challenges you to a menacing game of patience. All you have to do is to keep a steady hand and make sure the hoop stays within a safe radius, avoiding the spiral metal rod. As you try your best not to trigger the alarm, the encouragement of your friends is already enough to make you feel like a champion.
There are 10 kid-friendly carnival rides that are priced between 3 to 7 credits. Back in the days as kids, we would always look forward to Uncle Ringo amusement funfair, but now with Prudential Marina Bay Carnival, the fun is doubled. As social media has taken the world by storm, every angle of the carnival boasts a picture-perfect opportunity!
3. Savour delectable carnival grub at Marina Bay Carnival
Meatballs in a bucket (12 credits)
Tiger Radler Slushie (7 credits)
There are a total of eight stalls serving food and beverage under a sheltered tent. Some of these names such as Meatballs in a Bucket, Loco Loco and Hot Dog Bros are no stranger to us as we have seen them at many pop-up events across Singapore.
After working up an appetite from the carnival rides and games, we decided to order the Classic Beef Meatballs (12 credits) that came with a generous serving of mash, curly fries and a dollop of jam that perfectly complemented the meatballs.
No meal is complete without a drink to wash down the grease. We ordered the Tiger Radler Slushie (7 credits) and it was the perfect cooler we were looking for to beat the heat! It tasted refreshing as the lemon cleansed our palates and soon, we were ready for a second round of games.
Aside from rides and games, there will also be roving acts and live performances to keep you entertained. Gather your friends and #MakeCrazyMemories now, or you have to wait till the following year.
