Contemporary wine brand, Flavabom has just launched in Singapore and will be exclusively distributed by MJ Wines International. Does Flavabom sound familiar to you? It could be because it was founded by sustainability stalwart Byrne Vineyards; one of the largest family-owned vineyards in Southern Australia.
Flavabom is the brainchild of third-generation vineyard owner Petria Bryne and the winemaking team of Mark Robinson and Master of Wine Phil Reedman.
The name Flavabom was derived from how the flavourful wines burst with flavour in each sip… Which is no surprise! Given they’ve adopted a contemporary approach to winemaking that creates their signature modern, bold flavours. You’ll also notice the eye-catching, graphic, tattoo-like labels that add a touch of quirkiness and fun to the brand’s vibe. Wine lovers will be thrilled to know Flavabom’s wines are vegan and vegetarian-friendly.
Three labels are currently being sold in Singapore – Flavabom Rose, Flavabom Field White, and Flavabom Vine Dried Shiraz.
Flavabom Rose 2022
Think strawberry and pear flavours in a lovely salmon pink shade. Expect notes of strawberry and raspberry on the nose, and it’s a light, bright rosé with a distinct enough acidity. Goes well with seafood.
Flavabom Field White 2022
This signature wine combines Semillon, Chardonnay and Riesling, giving you a blend that’s been a consistent James Halliday 91-pointer since 2016.
The co-picked and co-fermented wine delivers punchy aromatics and layered characteristics of pineapple, lime and peach in a palate complexity that blends harmoniously. We found this was best enjoyed on it’s own or with light foods.
Flavabom Vine Dried Shiraz 2019
Our favourite of the night – this shiraz was rich and full-bodied with aromatics of vanilla, plums, cloves and liquorice, notes of dark stone fruit on the palate, and hints of spice and peppers on the finish.
With the grapes being vine-dried before harvest, it’s no wonder the natural intensity of flavours and sugars was so distinct and bright. The 2019 vintage won Gold at the 28th Mundus Vini: The Grand International Wine Award, Germany; The Berliner Wine Trophy, Germany; and the China Wine and Spirits Award. The 2022 vintage was awarded 93 points from Wine Orbit.
