L’Angelus at Club Street: Excellent French Delicacies & Fine Wines

L'Angelus Singapore

Bonjour! We have some exciting news to share. If you’re a fan of French cuisine or just want to live a life like “Emily in Paris”, look no further. L’Angelus is a Parisian-inspired restaurant that is tucked away along the bustling Club Street.

The gastro lounge is hard to miss with its floral exterior and vintage vibes. Walking into the restaurant, you will be teleported to France in the 19th century, with movie posters and stained glass ceilings to complete the look. ICYDK, L’Angelus has been situated in Singapore since 1998, and has been awarded the “Restaurateurs de France”.

L'Angelus

L’Angelus is filled with history and heritage, yet always in trend and constantly changing their menus and food innovations. You’ll be delighted to know that they have launched a new line-up of dishes to their menu to bring you an elevated and authentic french dining experience.

A grand total of 11 new dishes has recently been added to their menu, from entrées to mains and desserts, their new menu encapsulates the full french dining experience. Here are a few honourable mentions.

Oeufs Meurettes

Singapore French Bar Restaurant

Starting with entrées, we tried their Oeufs Meurettes ($24) and Ventrèche en Tartare ($34). The Oeufs Meurettes is a dish made of perfectly poached eggs, wild mushrooms from France, lardons (cubed bacon), home-made croutons, then drizzled over with home-made red wine reduction.

The red wine reduction pairs nicely with the earthy flavours of the mushrooms, with a nice textural contrast from the croutons.

Ventrèche en Tartare

L'Angelus Tartare

The Ventrèche en Tartare is a decadent dish comprising Japanese bluefin Chutoro (tuna belly) tartare, nori, home-made seaweed mayo and shallots, paired with thin oven-baked bread chips for the perfect crunch.

We loved the pairing of umami flavours from the tartare and the crunch from bread chips – truly a delectable experience for our palates.

Calamars Farcis

Singapore French Restaurant

For their Poissons Et Crustacés, aka fish and shellfish, we had their Calamars Farcis ($42) – a locally wild-caught squid stuffed with couscous infused with preserved lemon, rosette and zucchini, pan-roasted with butter and topped with an Italian-style Romesco sauce and ikura.

This dish boasts herby flavours and a chewy yet tender texture.

Bœuf Bourguignon, Pluma Iberique

Singapore Club Street
Pluma Ibérique

Moving from surf to turf, we tried their Poitrine D’agneau ($44); Pluma Ibérique ($45); and Bœuf Bourguignon ($132, 800g) – lamb, pork and beef dishes respectively.

All dishes were incredibly flavourful and well-made, and each protein was fall-off-the-bone tender.

Of course, a meal at L’Angelus would be incomplete without wines. If you’d like, each entrée, main and dessert has a recommended wine pairing! Check with the staff and they’d be be able to make the best recommendations based on your food order.

From champagnes as an apéritif, to pairing seafood with white wines and meats with reds; many of their bevvies are directly sourced and imported from France by the L’Angélus Group. Epicureans can expect nothing but an exquisite French dining experience.
