Music lovers out there will want to keep their eyes and ears peeled for this year’s edition of *SCAPE Music Day Out! (MDO). For those not in the know, it’s the annual music-focused event organised by *SCAPE. An indie music festival that celebrates Singapore’s emerging creatives and indie artists, this year’s show will last three days from 16 to 18 October and will feature a stellar lineup of local music acts alongside a slew of regional industry veterans—but virtually.
In light of the ongoing pandemic and our Singapore’s stance against it, *SCAPE Music Day Out will take place online via YouTube.
At its heart, *SCAPE Music Day Out was conceptualised to give homegrown music artists a voice and a platform to showcase their talent. As such, attendees can expect to be awed and surprised by a younger group of musical talents including the likes of Singaporean singer-songwriter, RENE; along with indie-electronic duo .gif; and indie-synthpop band, whirring; Advaitha, a 17-year old singer-songwriter; and Tengyboy, an up and coming rapper will also be making appearances.
Oh, and let’s not forget local indie music veterans, CARACAL as well who’ll be making an appearance. Aching to get back into the music scene? Read on to find out more about what will be going down during the event.
Musical Performances by Up-And-Coming Local Indie Acts
Throughout the three-day event, artists will perform 40-minute sets each to which they will end with a post-event interview to engage with audiences, sharing insightful stories about their music journey, what they have been up to as well as the creative processes that fuel their music and their style.
In addition to that, bands and artists will also be sharing rig rundowns, providing useful tips and tricks to achieving their unique sound.
Live Panel Discussions by Industry Veterans
Besides musical performances at *SCAPE Music Day Out, attendees can also engage in live panel discussions with regional industry veterans such as John Huang from Taiwan, Bel Certeza from the Philippines, as well as local industry professionals including Raphael Ong, Creative Director of Middle Class Cigars, and Ricks Ang, Founder of KITCHEN. LABEL.
Attendees will walk away with insights about “Survival Tips for Independent Musicians” with success stories, “Shifts in the Regional and Local Music Scenes” especially given the COVID-19 situation, and also “The Future of Tech in Music Industry”.
