We have put together a list of Siem Reap bars that will cater to all budgets and occasions.
As one of the world’s most spectacular temple sites, Siem Reap is a charming place to visit if you’re all about adventure. During the day, venture through the vast ancient ruins of Angkor Wat, explore a plethora of jungle-washed ruins and Indiana Jones-type temples and at night, take a trip down Siem Reap’s infamous pub street—the place to experience revelry at its best (or worst).
Albeit being the epicentre of Siem Reap’s nightlife scene, many of the bars that you’ll find along pub street are honestly forgettable—and many of them will try and charge you exorbitant prices if they know you’re not local. Not to worry though, because contrary to its reputation, there are plenty of great places for you to get a decent drink.
Here’s 8 that we recommend for first-timers—from stunning speakeasies to ones you’ll hate us for.
1. Balthazar Wine Bar – Dedicated wine bar with a wide range of vino
Overlooking the river in the Wat Bo area, Balthazar is perhaps one of the only dedicated wine bars you’ll find in Siem Reap.If you fancy somewhere that’s fairly quiet where you can savour a good variety of vino, or enjoy a wee dram and a cigar, Balthazar’s the place to be.

This cosy space doubles up as a cafe during the day, serving straightforward food offerings but wander up a flight of stairs and you’ll find yourself in a warmly-lit space oozing with chill vibes. Standing as one of Siem Reap’s more popular cocktail bar, Miss Wong provides comfort and class in the form of its intimate setting and their array of elegant craft cocktails. Located along the notorious pub street, this cosy speakeasy is a great place to take refuge from the noise.
It’s interior is like a scene plucked from a 1930s Shanghainese drama but the drinks that they serve are anything but outdated. On the cocktail menu, you’ll find a repertoire of classics nuanced with Asian flavours. The bar also boasts an impressive range of home infusions and hard to find small-batch gins & vodkas.

Here, the mood is lively, the people are generally friendly and the drinks are very affordable. Happy hour is from 5 to 9 PM daily, but don’t be surprised if you find yourself lingering long after.

Cheap beer is almost as easy to find as a street touter, just head over to Siem Reap’s infamous ‘Pub Street’. But if it’s a quality brew with big flavour and depth that you’re after, the only way to go is with a pint from Siem Reap Brewpub.
The microbrewery has its own restaurant and bar where one can seek refuge from the oppressive heat and enjoy a cold beer in the process. The maestro behind Siem Reap Brewpub’s beer recipe is Singaporean computer-science-turned-brewmaster, Neo Say Wee, who pioneered Southeast Asia’s beer scene by opening Singapore’s first home-brew store for aspiring craft beer brewers.

Siem Reap’s notorious The Angkor What? Bar is one to visit if you’re all about revisiting your carefree, totally irresponsible youth. It’s a place fully capable of brewing an epic night, or one filled with catastrophe,
The Angkor What? Bar prides itself on being a bar that breeds bad decisions and irresponsible drinking since 1988. The atmosphere is as you would expect—loud and disorienting. That said, after downing a couple of beers and cocktail buckets, who’s to say you won’t be bouncing along to familiar club jams like a mad person too?
