From everybody’s favourite late-night bak chor mee joint, Ming Fa Fishball Noodles House, to dessert parlours, Salted Caramel and Udder’s, here is a guide to 7 joints in Upper Thomson that stay open past midnight—bars included.
1. Ming Fa Fishball Noodles House – To-die-for minced pork noodles
The famous Ming Fa Fishball Noodles House along Upper Thomson Road was recently closed for renovation. But hurray, it is back in business! Fans can now resume their supper routine and indulge in delicious bowls of pork minced meat noodles aka bak chor mee. The humble eatery has been around since 1946 – way before Singapore even gained independence.
Bak chor mee aside, Ming Fa Fishball Noodles House also serves fragrant laksa and wonderful Fuzhou fishballs that are firm to the bite.

2. Molten Diners – Western restaurant opens till 1AM daily
One of the Upper Thomson enclave’s latest Western food additions, these folks pride themselves on their array of innovative, bordering-on-insane dips and sauces. A brand that thrives on gimmicks (and having every possible sauce under the sun), what you can expect are sauces galore ranging from anything between salted egg, and black pepper to Harissa chilli and Gorgonzola Blue Cheese.
They do steaks, chicken chops, fish, pasta and basically everything you’d find at Aston’s but if you’re looking to switch things up, perhaps you might like the idea of crumbled Twisties over your mains and fries which these folks are apparently known for. Some people love it but who are we to judge.

The Roti Prata House is one of the most popular specialty roti prata eateries in Singapore and is especially popular for their crispy pratas. Untrue to its name, The Roti Prata house does not just sell pratas. Instead, anticipate a sheer selection of Indian dishes such as mutton soup with bread (S$4), maggi goreng (S$3.50) and chicken nasi briyani (S$5). Source: Udders Ice Cream
Udders Ice Cream recently reopened its door in Upper Thomson after a four-week renovation. The hiatus was especially painful for loyal fans, but rejoice – everyone can dig into freshly baked waffles and artisanal ice cream again!
For those not in the know, Udders is renowned for its Asian ice cream flavours and our personal favourites include Mao Shan Wang Durian, Kyoto Matcha and Champion Chendol. Having said that, the less adventurous – we aren’t judging – can stick to classics such as Chocolate and Strawberry.

Homegrown and birthed from a passion for ice cream and a knack for flavours that are playful—and a little naughty—Salted Caramel is an artisanal ice cream parlour that has long been firm favourites of dessert lovers everywhere. Their Salted Caramel flavour is a crowd favourite. Boasting a light brownish hue, it encompasses a sweet butterscotch-like flavour that is nicely balanced with a buttery sweet and salty profile.

7. Soi 19 Wanton Mee – Tasty Thai-style noodles
Compared to our local version, Thai wanton mee essentially features the same ingredients, such as springy egg noodles, char siew, wanton and blanched vegetables but with the addition of Thai sausages, fried wontons, powdered chilli, fish sauce and pork lard. Soi 19 Thai Wanton Mee’s unique rendition of wanton mee incorporates pork lard as its base which is incredibly sinful but extremely flavourful. The outlet in Upper Thomson is a franchise, but it’s also one of the few that opens till late.

Opening Hours: 8AM – 12AM (Daily)
