Music events around the world had to be cancelled due to the Coronavirus outbreak and everyone—artists, fans and organisers—were devastated.
But the organisers of Wireless Connect (one of UK’s biggest music festivals) were determined to make something happen regardless. Even if it meant taking the live show to a virtual space!
In collaboration with MelodyVR app, ravers are given the opportunity to experience a three-day virtual festival from the comfort of home. We know how it sounds. Partying in your bedroom all by yourself sounds cliché and bordering-on-lame. But wait till you see the lineup—we’ve heard tell that A$AP Rocky will be featured! For fans of hip-hop, rap, r&b and electronic genres, this is one event you definitely want to tune into. Even if it means doing so from home!
Set to take place from 3 to 5 July 2020, Wireless Organisers are promising an entire weekend’s worth of unseen performances, exclusive footage and more. This will include pre-recorded performances from a number of artists; all of which will be aired via live-stream for free in 360° virtual reality on both the MelodyVR app or on Wireless Festival’s Facebook page.
Wireless Connect Festival (3 – 5 July 2020)
The full line-up for the festival has yet to be released. But with organisers promising an incredible show that’ll feature a host of world-renowned acts hailing from the US and UK; you can expect a pretty decent lineup as far as this makeshift virtual music event goes. Previous editions of this massive music festival have graced the likes of Cardi B, Travis Scott, A$AP Rocky and more!
If you’ve always dreamed of being up on stage alongside your favourite rap gods, now you can. Download the Melody Virtual app to experience the madness all in full 360-degrees. Choose from multiple available vantage points at the stands, or select a spot right up on stage. This is seriously an experience you won’t ever get to try anywhere else.
“There’s no more forward-thinking festival than Wireless, and there’s no more forward-thinking way of hosting a festival than in 360 VR,” Melvin Benn, Managing Director of Festival Republic.
“We’ll be filming artists in MelodyVR’s amazing studio space in LA, built just for this purpose, and in the historic theatre at Ally Pally, which MelodyVR will turn into Wireless Connect. No one has done this before!”
Wireless Connect Festival will be aired via live-stream for free via the MelodyVR app or on the Wireless Festival Facebook page.
