At the heart of every Negroni is Campari, complemented by vermouth for its balance of sweetness and dryness, and finished with a base spirit. In an exciting collaboration with China’s Wuliangye Group, Campari is unveiling a new classic.
Negroni Week 2024 proudly introduces Wugroni as its seventh base spirit variation, celebrating diverse drinking cultures and the Negroni’s versatility.
Wugroni joins the ranks of other Negroni variants like the Mezcal-based Oaxacan Negroni; the Rye Whisky-based Old Pal; and the Sparkling Wine-infused Sbagliato. However, Wugroni marks a first by replacing gin with baijiu. The name itself pays tribute to the five (Wu) grains used in the distillation process. This unique blend combines 20ml of baijiu; 40ml of Campari; and 40ml of sweet vermouth, garnished with a twist of orange peel for a touch of Eastern flair.
Campari’s partnership with Wuliangye, one of China’s most renowned baijiu producers, further strengthens the global presence of both brands. Wuliangye has earned numerous accolades for its signature Nongxiangxing Baijiu, solidifying its position as a key player in the international spirits market. This collaboration also marks a significant step in expanding Campari’s footprint in China.
As part of the celebration, over 20 bars in Singapore will create their own takes on the Wugroni! This includes Bar Spectre, HighHouse, InterContinental Bugis, Las Palmas, Madame Fan, Nighthawk, Nutmeg & Clove, Set of Six, Stay Gold Flamingo and more.
