Hong Kong’s bar scene is as overwhelming as it is diverse and gone are the days where most of the action was centred within the country’s city centre. Many areas have experienced a boom of culture and conviviality with the influx of cool bars and restaurants opening up in and around Hong Kong’s suburban areas.
Take Kennedy Town as an example. This neighbourhood was hardly ever talked about just a decade ago and now? It’s one of Hong Kong’s most happening food and bar-laden enclaves. Keen to explore Kennedy Town for yourself? Here is a list of bars for you to check out.
1. 11 Westside
Headed by Mexican native and wide-celebrated celebrity chef heavyweight, Chef Esdras Ochoa— you may have come across his face on Netflix programme, The Final Table—, 11 Westside over at Kennedy Town is a Mexican restaurant/bar that’s perfect for weekly get-togethers over solid grub and drinks.
They’re all about quality here so expect their dishes and house signature cocktails to be prepared with finesse using quality ingredients that fly in directly from Mexico itself.
Staying true to Chef Ochoa’s roots, everything at 11 Westside is made in-house, including the made-at-your-table guacamole, corn tortillas and tacos, and more! If you’re looking to skip on the grub and go straight for drinks, know that you won’t be disappointed either.

To complement your meal, scan through their expansive wine list or perhaps go for something stronger. Their cocktail list might not be extensive but they do serve a decent handful of classics.
