Imagine sitting at Caffe Fernet at sunset, sipping on an aperitivo. It feels like you are relaxing along the Amalfi Coast… or rather, that’s quite as close as it can get in Singapore with its cityscape in the background instead. For real though, the ambience and view are excellent, with even better Italian food and drinks.
It’s giving daytime Jigger & Pony vibes, and we’re down for that. Caffe Fernet is part of the Jigger & Pony Group, after all, and you know you can expect legit cocktails here.
Cocktails at Caffe Fernet
The thoughtfully-crafted beverage programme features 17 cocktails and two punch bowls split across six time periods in a day. Starting from “It’s always 5pm in Italy”, which features light, refreshing tipples suitable for the Italian Aperitivo hour.
In addition, you can expect solid and spirit-forward cocktails in “One for the road”, which, as its name suggests, is a list of the perfect drinks to end the night with.
P.s. Happy Hour starts the minute doors open until 6.30pm.
Sakura Bellini & Lemon Cooler
The Sakura Bellini ($21) is a refreshing tipple made with Sakura tea, cherry liqueur and sparkling rosé. We can totally see ourselves sipping this over a boozy brunch or hot afternoon.
The Lemon Cooler ($20) was also refreshing but had a nice contrasting acidity from the lemon. Made with Beefeater Gin, limoncello, lemon juice and ginger ale.
Sgroppino & Raspberry Margarita
The Sgroppino ($25) was such a fun sipper – it’s made with Monkey 47 Gin, Dopa Dopa lemon sorbet, rosemary and prosecco. Best enjoyed by eating the boozy lemon sorbet first before sipping on the tipple; it’s the perfect cocktail on a hot day. We’re petitioning to have all our sorbets served this way from now on.
Who says you can’t have an Italian margarita, right? Caffe Fernet’s Raspberry Margarita ($22) is also available in pitcher-size ($88). If you’ve visited them before, you may fondly remember the frozé, which has now been replaced by this slightly sweet and tart tipple. Made with Altos Plata Tequila, Cointreau, raspberry, pink grapefruit, and lime juice.
Classic Negroni
This Classic Negroni ($23) was made with Gin Del Professore, Campari and Cinzano Rosso Vermouth. Interestingly, the Gin Del Professore was created through the infusion of botanicals rather than distillation, giving it its golden colour and more texture. Very spice forward and had strong botanicals. A 100% Italian Negroni.
Hazelnut Manhattan
Now, this may just be our favourite rendition of a Manhattan, next to the original, of course. The Hazeulnut Manhattan ($25) is made with Maker’s Mark 46 Bourbon Whisky, hazelnut liqueur and 80% dark chocolate from local brand FOSSA Chocolate. Punchy, with a lingering nutty sweetness and very well-balanced. Our fave of the night!
Food at Caffe Fernet
Caffe Fernet is no stranger to the local Italian food scene, with its unique yet comforting take on Italian dishes made with unexpected ingredients and local produce.
The straightforward menu focuses on a handful of perfected dishes, such as the Mafaldine Cacio E Pepe ($29). If you’re into Italian food, you know you can tell how good an Italian resto is based on their Cacio E Pepe. Caffe Fernet uses 100% GMO-free pasta combined with parmesan, pecorino and parmesan to achieve its rich, sharp and robust flavours.
If you haven’t, this is your sign to pay Caffe Fernet a visit. It’s the perfect spot to catch the sunset on a date or hang out with friends after work.
