This collaboration marries the sophisticated tradition of Duncan Taylor, the renowned whisky broker; with the extensive reach and expertise of Signature Reserve, one of Singapore’s most illustrious whisky libraries. This partnership promises to unfold a symphony of unparalleled whisky experiences, starting with the much-anticipated Port Ellen 1983 (40 Years), a whisky steeped in legacy and rarity following the discontinuation of the Port Ellen distillery.

Tasting Duncan Taylor’s Whiskies

An exclusive tasting event on 25th October further illuminated Duncan Taylor’s whisky magnificence, masterfully curated and hosted by Brand Ambassador Fergus Simpson. He shared with us the history of Duncan Taylor, their philosophy when it comes to curation of whiskies and more.

Apart from the classic Black Bull blended scotch whisky, we had the pleasure of tasting the smokey, peaty and mineral Bowmore 1982, Aged 31 Years. It had an almost hay-like, herbal note as well.

The citrusy, vanilla oak-forward, smoky and honeyed Bunnahabhain 1969, Aged 43 Years was next and stole the show with it’s incredible complexity.

The Port Ellen 1983, Aged 40 Years was a pinnacle of whisky craftsmanship and the highlight. This classic sherried Islay had a lovely freshness with a compelling nose. Heavily peated with bitter dark chocolate notes and rich treacle toffee notes too.

When it comes to tasting, there’s so much to be learnt from Fergus’ incredibly open-minded approach to whisky appreciation – he says, “If you smell something or taste something in the whisky, it’s there. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.”
