Known for her sultry tone and powerhouse vocals, Fernandez tours internationally and has headlined at notable jazz venues and festivals; including Birdland Jazz Club in New York, an honour only select Asian jazz artists have had. Closer to home, Alemay has performed with Singapore Symphony Orchestra, as well as Jazz Association of Singapore Orchestras. She also makes regular appearances at the concerts of her mentors and Cultural Medallion recipients, “Mad Chinaman” Dick Lee, and Singapore’s “King of Swing”, Jeremy Monteiro.

Saturday Swing (13 June)

Enjoy classic standards from jazz icons such as Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra as Alemay Fernandez teams up with keyboardist, Chok Kerong, a veteran musician and versatile one at that who’s just an absolute beast on the piano and organ.

Chok’s compositions and arrangements have been performed by luminaries like Jeremy Monteiro, Rani Singam, T’ang Quartet and the Singapore Wind Symphony. In 2017, he wrote Disquiet, commissioned by the Singapore Symphony Group for the Victoria Concert Hall Organ Series. His compositions for an 11-piece chamber ensemble were featured in Hong Kong. He also wrote Sketches of Miles, commissioned by Jazz Association of Singapore. Most recently, Chok presented PITCH, his second chamber ensemble project, featuring new compositions that meld 20th-century chromaticism, soul, swing and Brazilian music.

Weekend Chill (27 June)

Exuding chill vibes and eclectic blues numbers, catch Fernandez with guitarist, Anson Fung, as they present a series of Bossa nova and blues numbers from Antônio Carlos Jobim, Etta James and Nancy Wilson.

Self-taught since age 15, Fung is a hugely talented, cross-genre guitarist who has performed with many notable names, including jazz luminaries, Benny Golson and Jeremy Monteiro.
