Nestled in Dempsey Hill against lush and leafy greenery, La Salsa is a Latin-inspired restaurant that serves as an ideal venue for one to immerse in the Latin-tinged experience, replete with tasty food, live entertainment and an array of punchy margaritas and cocktails made using premium tequila and mezcal that’ll have you grooving to the music quicker than you can say “fiesta”.

La Salsa’s exotic menu features a mouth-watering selection of appetisers and mains that will satiate and excite even the most discerning tastebuds. Savour the flavours of Mexico with iconic staples such as burritos and chimichangas along with a slew of contemporary delights from succulent steaks to tender pork ribs.

Vegetarians and vegans aren’t left out. They will be pleased to hear that La Salsa offers 50% off all vegetarian dishes on Tuesday! P.s. Most of the dishes on the menu can be made vegan upon request.

Their menu offerings are currently available for takeaway and islandwide delivery. Thereby allowing you to savour the taste of Mexico from the comfort of your own home! Among their vast array of food items, we list down our absolute favourites which range from the humble taco to meatier delights.

Vegetarian Jalapeno Poppers

La Salsa Vegetarian Dishes

A surefire way to kickstart your meal on a high is with their spicy and oozy Jalapeno Poppers (S$19++). These jalapeño peppers that have been split open, stuffed with cheese, breaded and fried to crisp, golden perfection. A crowd-pleaser without a doubt!

Tacos (Hard/Soft Shell)

Quintessential to any Mexican meal is the taco. Over at La Salsa, diners can choose between soft/hard shell, along with a sizeable selection of fillings i.e. Al Pastor (pork & pineapple); Carnitas (pulled pork); braised or minced beef; chicken; Baja (beer-battered prawns); Pescado (fish of the day) and for vegans and vegetarians alike, seasonal vegetables or tofu crumble, to go with. Priced at S$11++ for two tacos, the ingredients used are fresh and the flavours, exciting yet perfectly balanced.

Chimichanga

Besides the selection of tacos, you can’t leave without ordering yourself their crispy, generously-stuffed Chimichangas (S$19++). They have a wide array of options to choose from such as minced beef, chicken, pork, tiger prawns, mixed vegetables and mushrooms & corn. For the uninitiated, it’s a deep-fried burrito that’s nicely golden and crispy from edge to edge, and exploding at the seams with all sorts of delicious goodies. A treat for any big eaters. Even if you aren’t, it’s a fried burrito—what else matters?

They also do burritos, quesadillas, fajitas, enchiladas and flautas (deep-fried tortilla rolls) even. The full works basically.

Meat-free Asparagus Flauta

Unlike many restaurants that probably only allocate 10 per cent of their menu to vegetarians, what we particularly adore about La Salsa is the fact that nearly every category on their menu comes with a vegetarian and vegan option. Take their Asparagus Flauta (S$22) for instance, which sees a deep-fried tortilla roll stuffed with tender asparagus before being topped generously with a mound of salsa verde, sour cream and Roja sauce.

That’s not even the best part. On Tuesdays, all vegetarian dishes are priced at 50% off.

Homemade Wagyu Meatball Fajita

One dish in particular which we found to be unusual yet incredibly impressive during a recent visit was their Homemade Wagyu Meatball Fajita (S$32++). Fajitas are uncommon and typically the protein of choice would appear in the form of either chicken or an inexpensive cut of beef. This, however, sees tender, juicy meatballs made out of actual wagyu beef. The fat to lean meat ratio is really what makes it. Moist and melt-in-your-mouth, we’d highly recommend opting for this.

Costillas de Cerdo

La Salsa’s Costillas de Cerdo (S$35) are by far the best we ever had. These meltable St Louis Pork Ribs have been given a generous rub down with their house spices, then oven-roasted till tender, char-grilled to perfection and served with chipotle bbq sauce and roasted corn kennels.

Going above and beyond typical Mexican fare, guests—especially ones with huge appetites—can luxuriate in a number of meat-forward dishes from lamb racks to hearty steaks. But if you can only choose one, definitely go for their divine pork ribs.
