In Singapore, you’ll find no shortage of places to go for supper, and the best part about our local cuisine is that many of the foods that you find locals enjoying during breakfast or lunch, can also be enjoyed just the same for supper. Take the humble wanton mee for instance. A noodle dish prepared simply served alongside slices of barbecued pork, blanched vegetables on the side and tossed in a sesame, soy and lard-based sauce—it’s undoubtedly one of Singapore’s most prized hawker dishes. Keen to tuck into a plate yourself before hitting the hay? Here is a list of 6 darn good ones.
1. Fei Fei Wanton Mee
For as long as we can remember, Fei Fei Wanton Noodle over at Joo Chiat has been a haven for supper-goers. Granted their wanton noodles may not rank on the same level as some of the best we’ve tried, but they still prove satisfying as a late-night supper alternative to prata. An added bonus is that they also serve a variety of accompaniments from meatballs to yong tau foo dishes as well—on top of the fact that they open 24-hours.
Address: 72 Joo Chiat Place, Singapore 427789
Opening Hours: 24-Hours

2. Guang Zhou Mian Shi Wanton Noodle
A hugely popular dinner and supper option over in the Tanglin Halt area, many locals swear by their humble plates of wanton noodles which they claim to possess an ‘old-school taste’. The magic that makes the dish so profoundly addictive lies in the precise ratio of sesame oil, soy and their house-made garlicky chilli which lends the various components of the dish from the egg noodles to the char siew, a savoury, tangy and robust flavour.
Address: Stall 01-04, Tanglin Halt Rd, 48A, Singapore 142048
Opening Hours: 5PM – 2.30AM (Tue to Fri) 5PM – 1AM (Sat), Closed on Sundays & Mondays
Nearest MRT: Queenstown
3. Koka Wanton Noodle
Melding together a glorious hodgepodge of condiments—think, pork lard, soy, sesame oil and a piquant chilli sauce—the fragrance that erupts from this modest plate of noodles is just heavenly. You’d have to prepare to wait a pretty long time to be served but for many, their wanton mee is well worth the wait. Barbecued char siew with wanton noodles are their signatures, but feel free to add on an additional spoonful of deep-fried pork lard and chilli to further enrich its flavour.
Address: North Bridge Road Market & Food Centre, 10 North Bridge Rd, Singapore 190010
Opening Hours: 9.45AM – 2AM (Mon to Sat), Closed on Sundays
4. Soi 19 Thai Wanton Mee (Upper Thomson)
If you’ve never tried the Thai variant of wanton mee, you’ll be happy to know that you won’t need to travel to Bangkok to try it. Thai wanton mee essentially features the same ingredients such as springy egg noodles, char siew, wanton and blanched vegetables with the exception of Thai sausages, fried wontons, powdered chilli, fish sauce and pork lard.
Soi 19 Thai Wanton Mee’s unique Thai-style wanton mee incorporates pork lard as its base which is incredibly sinful but extremely flavourful. We typically like to ramp it up with an additional spoonful of crispy lard, a sprinkle of sugar and the dried chilli powder. The outlet in Upper Thomson is a franchise, but it’s also one of the few that opens till late.
Address: 244R Upper Thomson Rd, Singapore 574369
Opening Hours: 8AM – 12AM (Daily)
5. Wanton Fu
Located at ARC 380 in Jalan Besar, Wanton Fu serves wanton mee that’s similar in style to the famous Eng’s. From its outward appearance to the look of their Signature Wanton Fu Noodles itself—not to mention their overly hyped homemade spicy chilli sauce—, one can’t help but draw distinct similarities to the famous Eng’s Wantan Noodle. Their wanton noodles are not life-changing per se, but they definitely aren’t horrible either. For those who live near Jalan Besar, this would be a great supper option to curb your cravings as they open till 2AM on weekends.
Address: ARC 380, 380 Jln Besar, #01-09 ARC380, Singapore 209000
Opening Hours: 11AM – 10PM (Sun to Thu), 11AM – 2AM (Fri & Sat)

Nearest MRT Station: Lavender
6. Soon Kee Wanton Mee
Boasting queues that are consistently long, this long-time wanton noodle stall in Pek Kio Market stands exists as something of an institution around that part of Singapore. They only sell one item but available in both soup or dry version. Everything about their signature dish spells quality: from how expertly prepared their springy noodles always are to the perfectly stuffed wontons and delightfully charred char siew pork. While most wanton noodles call for thin egg noodles, we recommend opting for the flat variant referred to as “mee pok”. It certainly works better in terms of slurping up every bit of their amazing dark sauce, sesame oil, chilli and lard mixture.
Address: Pek Kio Market & Food Centre, 41A Cambridge Rd, Singapore 211041
Opening Hours: 5AM – 1.30PM (Thu to Mon), Closed on Tuesdays & Wednesdays
