Fei Fei Wanton Mee: Popular Supper Spot In Joo Chiat That Opens 24/7

For as long as we can remember, Fei Fei Wanton Mee in Joo Chiat has been a haven for folks looking for a hearty supper. Their food is pretty tasty overall, save for their char siew which we often found to be a little on the dry side.

Spoiler alert: Fei Fei Wanton Mee’s signature dish isn’t the best of its kind in Singapore. But the eatery still receives a steady stream of patrons, especially those famished in the middle of the night. An added bonus is that they also serve a variety of accompaniments from meatballs to yong tau foo ingredients.

Open 24/7 daily, Fei Fei Wanton Mee proves to be a decent supper option.

Our lowdown on Fei Fei Wanton Mee’s signature dish (S$4)

A shadow of its former glory, there were quite a few hits and misses with their Wanton Mee (S$4)—which made our experience eating it a little upsetting—more specifically with the ingredients that came with it.

The char siew was thin, dry and lacked depth. The fried wanton was a little on the oily side and the filling was salty. If anything, it did provide a nice crunchy element to the dish.

In hindsight, the noodles were well executed. Their egg noodles are springy and well seasoned, tossed evenly in their punchy homemade chilli sauce along with ketchup and sesame oil. Make it a point to mix it up immediately as it does tend to clump up.

Wanton Soup (S$4)

Their Wanton Soup (S$4) is a good accompaniment to have if you’re feeling peckish. The soup was mildly seasoned with a good body containing pork and shrimp flavours. It comes with a generous portion of wantons and vegetables.

Meatballs (S$2)

If you’re looking to supplement your meal with something that’s meaty and delicious, our recommendation is to add on their Meatballs (S$2) to your wanton noodles. The freshly deep-fried meatballs ooze with a meaty aroma.

They were meaty, surprisingly succulent and not overly salty, quite similar in taste to ngoh hiang.
