PintHouse is a cosy, spacious and unpretentious new beer spot in Tekka Place. Situated within Xin Tekka on the mezzanine floor of the food hall, it is a convenient place to hang out after work/school, given its proximity to three MRT Stations and LASALLE College of the Arts.
Opened and helmed by a veteran beer aficionado, Jay Tan, who enjoys anything from a humble lager to funky craft brews, you can trust their curated list of beers to be good. During our recent visit, we were impressed to see craft beers from some of our favourite breweries i.e. Stone Brewing, Rogue Brewery, Rye Pint, Sunbird Brewing Co. Feral Brewing and Heretic Brewing.
Foodies and zythophiles alike now have a better reason to visit Xin Tekka, and the reason is good food and greater beer.
PintHouse is only a short walk from three MRT Stations: Rochor, Little India & Jalan Besar
Xin Tekka itself is a food hall dedicated to the local cuisine of Singapore. Over here, you’ll find many comeback restaurateurs, next-generation hawkers and legacy hawkers culminating under one roof—the largest in Tekka. In keeping up with that spirited ethos, they also try and bring in beers brewed by local craft breweries.
Purchase a plate of food from any of the stalls below and you’ll be entitled to a pint at S$7/each. If you’re solely visiting to drink, look forward to their beer bottle promotion that sees any five bottles of beer going for just S$30.
Still in its infancy, the array of beer taps they currently sport aren’t extensive. But you’ll find all that you’ll need to put you in a better mood than when you first arrived! On tap, you’ll find a Summer IPA and a Belgian Witbier from Archipelago Brewery along with Guinness stout. It’s hard to go wrong with Guinness on tap, to be honest.
Besides sporting a large and vibrant space, a pool table and an array of beers, what we particularly find most charming about this nondescript beer joint is the fact that they welcome all regardless of drink preference. Indeed, it really shows in their curated list of beers!
Another founding principle of PintHouse is the belief to give back to the community. Part of their revenue this quarter will be pledged to Make-A-Wish Foundation (Singapore), with other non-profit organisations and causes to follow. Giving back to the community through beer, now that’s something we can definitely get behind.
