Singapore’s most extensive sake festival, Sake Matsuri, is back for its 4th edition following a 2-year hiatus due to the pandemic. This year’s event will be held at the UE Square Skylight Atrium, on 25th June from 11am to 10pm. Tickets are available in timeslots of 3 hours, from 11am to 2pm and 3pm to 6pm, and is open to public from 6pm onwards.
Over 150 Sakes & Spirits at Sake Matsuri
Expect over 150 sakes and Japanese spirits, some of which are exclusive seasonal releases! From elegant Junmai Daiginjos to unpasteurised Namazakes and more, the list of different sakes to try is almost endless. Try the sakes individually, or opt for a tasting flight for select sakes. You can also purchase individual sake bottles at attractive prices to enjoy on the spot or bring home to savour.
This is also your only chance to get your hands on the exclusive Kurokohaku by Kamagawa Sake Brewery – the world’s oldest kijoshu (50-years-old) and the most expensive sake available in Singapore at a whopping S$22,000! This jet-black aged sake encapsulates the terroir of Shirataka, Yamagata unlike any other – a collector’s treasure for sure.
Apart from sakes, expect a specially curated selection of Japanese Spirits available for tasting.
Masterclasses
A range of workshops and masterclasses conducted by sake sommeliers and experts will be held in the lead up to festival day.
Masterclass #1: Super Premium Sakes
Conducted by Sake Educator Adrian Goh from Inter Rice Asia, this masterclass features a tasting of 5 different ultra-premium sakes (some worth more than $800) of different styles from various regions, some of which are award-winning sakes 🍶

Masterclass #2: Cheese & Warm Sake
For the first time ever, experience the marriage of flavours as sake sommeliers and cheese experts Olivia Chey, Cedric Tan, and Julian Goh present a pairing of 6 unique sakes and 7 kinds of cheese in this engaging and fun 1-hour session.

Masterclass #3: Exploring the Differing Expression of Rice
Join Sake Sommelier Ms. Kanako Takahashi in this exploratory masterclass that focuses on the expressions of sake rice within the same style – Junmai Ginjo. Explore variables such as the variety of sake-brewing rice, polishing ratio, and more. You will also get to taste and compare 3 bottles of Junmai Ginjo (55% polish ratio).

Food at Sake Matsuri
Feeling peckish? Grab a bite at the izakaya booth on-site! The menu includes nori fries, oden, fried tako, shishamo and more, all of which pair well with sakes and cocktails.
Sundown Party
If you haven’t had enough, stay on for the first-ever Sundown Sake Party that begins from 6pm onwards, which is also open to the public. As the sake vendors stop pouring, the live DJ set comes on, turning a day of libation into a night of revelry!
Partygoers can enjoy the cocktail booth by Beam Suntory, helmed by Restaurant Eclipse bar manager Niza and Section D home bartender Dannon Har. Expect craft tipples inspired by Japanese flavours, made with Haku Vodka and Roku Gin. Sake flights by Sakechan will still be available, along with a limited selection of sakes by the bottle.
Tickets to Sake Matsuri
Early bird tickets have been fully taken up; however, a limited number of walk-in tickets will be available at $55/pax on the festival day while stocks last.
Sake lovers, this is the perfect way to spend a weekend! If you’re new to sake, this is also an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with one of Japan’s most popular bevvies.
