We have heard of a fair share of innovative and interesting flavours when it comes to craft beers in Singapore. From Cheng-tng inspired pale ale by Niang Brewery Co to green-hued ‘healthy’ beers by RedDot BrewHouse over at Dempsey Hill; our island certainly doesn’t fall short when it comes to out-of-the-box selections.
But beers inspired by Singaporeans’ favourite beach, Sentosa? That’s a first.
Sentosa (yes, the beach) and original craft brewery, Brewerkz are collaborating to launch the Islander Brew—a series of craft beers inspired by the island’s landmarks. Read on to find out more!
The series of 4 exciting flavours are individually inspired by edible plants found on Sentosa’s beaches, bringing out a unique taste that’s unlike any other beers you’ve knocked back before. The beers are each named after the island’s landmarks – Siloso Beach, Tanjong Rimau, Fort Siloso, Bukit Manis, inspired by edible plants including cacao, lime and nutmeg.
Fort Siloso
Fort Siloso is Singapore’s last remaining preserved coastal fort and it serves as a homage to the heritage of the British base on Sentosa. There’s no wonder that this landmark has been chosen to represent heritage discovery as part of the Islander’s Brew series.
This English-styled Porter is velvety in texture with a rich chocolatey flavour and hints of coffee and vanilla notes.
Tanjong Rimau
Home to Sentosa’s most unique rock formations and a coastal headland rich in marine life, Tanjong Rimau takes on the form of a classic wheat beer that boasts hints of nutmeg and coriander, and a citrusy yuzu aroma.
Siloso Beach
Ah, the Sentosa classic. Renowned for being the trendiest beach on Sentosa, Siloso Beach is the go-to place for thrills, fun, bars and restaurants.
The taste of this beer is an apt reflection of the hippy beach. A refreshing gose brewed with sea salt and kaffir lime!
Bukit Manis
This Jasmine Kolsch brew is crisp, sparkling and slightly fruity with the aromatic hint of jasmine. A beverage that truly embodies Bukit Manis, the spot in Sentosa where guests head over to for relaxation and pampering.
This special collection of beers have rolled out at Sentosa’s F&B establishments and are available at participating supermarkets and online retail channels such as Cheers and Cold Storage.
It is worth mentioning that the Islander Brew is Singapore’s first carbon neutral beers! This effort is part of Sentosa Development Corporation’s broader decarbonisation roadmap and Brewerkz’s sustainable aspirations.
