Wine Lust 2022: Wine dinners, masterclasses and more till 10 Sep

Wine Lust 2022 Singapore

Wine Lust is back for its 6th edition from 12 August to 10 September… And this is your last chance to sign up for their exclusive wine dinners! This annual event is organised by the 1-Group with various dining experiences; masterclasses; and curated retail programmes across the group’s seven iconic and heritage dining properties.

With just a few days until the end of the event, you can still treat yourself and your partner to a lovely Spanish wine dinner at Una at the Alkaff Mansion ($138++/pax, additional $48++ for wines); or a French wine dinner at The Summerhouse ($88++/pax, additional $40++for wines).

Wine Lust Dining Experiences

We got to try Fall in Spain, Una’s five-course wine pairing dinner, and it was a gastronomic adventure! Expect contemporary dishes with authentic flavours.

Wine Lust Singapore Dinner
Cogollos A La Brasa Wine Lust

The Jamon Iberico Con Melon was a lovely amuse bouche to whet your appetite. While the Cogollos A La Brasa may be a tad bit intimidating for those averse to anchovies, the combination of sweetness from the lettuce, creaminess of the cheese foam and the sourdough toast helped balance the flavours nicely. Paired with the Familia Torres Vinyarets Blanco, a light, zesty and fruity white.

The Txangurro al Horno had fresh, sweet crab meat mixed in a creamy sauce and baked. Although it’s typically served in a crab shell, Una opted to present it in a scallop shell for individual portions. The Bodegas Torres Viña Esmeralda Rosé was a soft pink rosé with exquisite sweet fruit aromas, almost like a Moscato, and really brought out the sweet crab meat flavours of the dish.

Interestingly, the Sopa De Calabaza, a butternut squash soup, was paired with the medium-bodied Bodegas Torres Altos Ibericos Reserva. The dark fruits and tannins from the wine were a surprisingly pleasant pairing with the creamy soup, complemented by the tartness from the pomegranate.

Wine Lust Wagyu A La Parrilla

The Wagyu A La Parrilla was cooked to a medium-rare with a smoky char, and the meat was soft and tender. While the roasted cauliflowers could have been roasted a little longer, the potato foam was savoury, creamy and delicious. The Familia Torres La Carbonera Las Pisadas was a robust, full-bodied red with excellent structure and tannins; a very well-chosen pairing.

End off your meal with the vanilla Panna Cotta with berries and mint; if you’re a fan of slightly more tart desserts, you’ll enjoy this. Although the Familia Torres Jaime 1 Brandy pairing was interesting, we enjoyed it way more on its own so we could savour this mildly sweet, very smooth and subtly oaky brandy.

Wines Galore

Apart from wine dinners, you can sip on corkage-free wines specially curated by Wine Lust retailers, exclusively found at Botanic and 1-Atico. Premium labels and regular retail bottles can be found at The Vault.
