Most Unique Fries in Singapore: Pad Thai Fries, Beef Bulgogi Fries & More

Best Loaded Fries In Singapore

Take a serving of plain-old fries and its essentially still a side dish, a complementary item to a meatier main such as steak, chicken or fish. But load it up with ingredients, smother it with a rich, decadent sauce and garnish it and it transforms into a full-on main, a one-dish-wonder if you will, in itself.

If you’re thinking only cheese fries, you’re barely scratching the surface. From the unusual to the crazy-good, we’ve sussed out 5 of the best (and most unique) loaded fries in Singapore that take fry-eating to a whole new level.

1. Chicken Up – Beef Bulgogi Fries

Chicken Up Bulgogi Fries

A dish that nicely marries the sticky, sweet and meaty flavours of bulgogi beef with perfectly crisp shoestring fries is the Beef Bulgogi Fries (S$18++) from Chicken Up. For an added savouriness, the dish comes topped with sour cream and a generous mound of diced red onion and scallions.

If you’re someone who absolutely loves anything drenched in salted egg yolk sauce, then the Salted Egg Fries at (S$7++) will surely be up your alley.

Boasting a deep, heady aroma of creamy salted egg yolk, the dish comes punctuated with strong umami-dense flavours of dried baby shrimp, giving it a heightened savouriness and a profile that’s quite unusual to mainstream salted egg yolk dishes.

3. Cook & Brew – Pad Thai Fries

Cook & Brew Pad Thai Fries

Perhaps one of our favourites in this list is Cook & Brew’s signature Pad Thai Fries (S$16++). Made to mimic the vibrant flavours of Thailand’s national dish, we were utterly left in awe at how spot on it was from the aroma to the actual taste.

Coated with a homemade sweet, sour and spicy sauce and topped liberally with crush peanuts, bean sprouts, chicken pieces and prawns, this dish is a literal meal on its own—and a very tasty one at that!

4. Loof – Chilli Crab Waffle Fries

Loof Chilli Crab Fries

A really popular snack at Loof that we observed many tables ordering is the Chilli Crab Waffle Fries (S$15++). The dish is a treat for crab lovers in that it features more actual crab meat than sauce. Piquant and sweet, the waffle-cut fries—in all its golden, delicious glory—are perfect vessels for mopping up the crab dip.

5. Potato Head Singapore – Naughty Fries

Potato Head Singapore Naughty Fries

Aptly named, the Naughty Fries (S$14) offers all who eat it a flavourful experience that transcends that of regular loaded fries. Over a bed of beautifully golden fries sit a homemade spicy béarnaise sauce, Italian cheese and fried onions sprinkled over top. A harmony of funk, zing, savouriness and spice, these bad boys are seriously too good to share.
