Daegu Chimac Festival—one of South Korea’s more popular summer festivals—celebrates what Koreans love to enjoy, chicken and beer—hence the term “chimac”, a portmanteau which combines chicken and maekju (beer).

What To Expect During The 5-Day Festival:
Throughout the 5-day long event, festival-goers can look forward to a myriad of enticing happenings spanning various music and cultural performances, exhibitions and activities.
Stepping up to become one of the most significant events in South Korea, this year’s festival will include performances by some of South Korea’s top artists (setlist to be announced soon), a culmination of local and international beer brands and of course, fried chicken.
Look forward to a range of varieties from the classic battered and deep-fried ones to variants tossed in a variety of sauces and seasonings.
This year’s event will take place at Duryu Park in Dalseo-gu, Daegu. Scattered in and around the park are various zones where different activities will take place. Here’s what you can expect at each zone:
Chimac Park Screen Concert (Outdoor Music Hall)
If you’ve got a picnic mat with you, feel free to find yourself a cosy spot. Taking place on a wide open field, here is a popular spot for couples to soak in the festival atmosphere, knock back a few beers, indulge in some food and catch a concert screening while they’re at it.
You don’t have to worry about bringing your own alcohol, because there’s a beer garden on site with several local and international labels on tap.
Chimac Beach (Tourist Information Center Parking Lot)
Decked out with sun beds, deck chairs and an inflatable pool, this is where the real summer party’s at. Put on those bikinis and unleash those summer bods because, at Chimac Beach, there’s drinks, live DJ sets and a pool perfect for some summer fun under the sun.
Chimac Ice Cafe (2.28 Parking Lot)
For when the summer heat proves a tad overbearing, why not escape the heat by soaking your feet in ice-cold water while you sip on a cold one? A refuge to combat the heat, Chimac Ice Cafe is a great place to cool off.
Premium Chimac Club (Duryu Baseball Stadium)
If you’ve got your rave crew with you, this is where you need to be. Expect to get thoroughly lit as you party the night away with unlimited draft beer, fried chicken and a repertoire of artists hell-bent on ensuring you have a solid time.
Premium Lounge
If you’re feeling like a baller, go right ahead and book yourself a table at the Premium Lounge. This massive space sits a significant amount of people and is located right next to the main stage.
The festival is open to visitors of all ages but beer, which takes up half of the festival, is strictly limited to those who are of legal drinking age. Areas such as Chimac Beach require a separate ticket to enter.
