HEYTEA Clarke Quay: Guinness Ice-cream & Chilli Cocktail in Singapore

The bubble tea scene in Singapore is exploding. In recent years, we have seen a dramatic increase in BBT franchises and brands sprouting up all over Singapore. Just when we thought the market could not be any more saturated, the original creators of cheese-flavoured tea, HeyTea 喜茶, has opened their second outlet at Clarke Quay and the best part is – it opens until 1:00 AM daily!

Dubbed as Tea Geek Bar, you can expect renditions of your favourite flavours crafted with finesse. Currently, they offer a specially curated menu which boasts six special tea blend cocktails and two alcohol-infused soft serves.

The newly refurbished interior was filled with high tables, stools; the space is enough to comfortably host around 40 pax. Imitating a science laboratory, the bubble tea ‘technicians’ donned sleek white lab coats whilst concocting drinks. Gimmicky? Maybe.

We ordered the Autumn Ashes (S$16) from the Tea Geek Special Blend series, which was a tequila-infused cocktail made with orchid tea, pineapple juice, grapefruit pulps and garnished with chilli padi.  Don’t let the chilli fool you – the cocktail was far from spicy. The taste of blue agave tequila was very subtle and at first sip, we were reminded of Jinro grapefruit-flavoured soju.

Next, we tried the Tipsy Ice Cream (Guinness) (S$4.50), a stout based ice-cream combined with HeyTea’s signature oolong King Fone tea. Smooth and velvety with hints of roasted coffee, the maltiness from the Irish dry stout was pleasant.

Besides the ice-cream, the waffle cone itself is worthy of a mention. The thin chocolatey biscuit remained crisp even when the soft serve was melting rapidly.

A claw machine sits in a corner of HEYTEA. What better way to enjoy your bubble tea than with the challenge of an old-school game? You can now satisfy your bubble tea cravings before a night of debauchery in Clarke Quay.
