Late-night cravings come in all forms and not all the time are they for savoury things. For when your sweet tooth cravings kick in and the bars of chocolate you have tucked away in your refrigerator just won’t cut it, here is a list of artisanal ice cream joints in Singapore that operate until as late as 2 AM. Knock yourselves out, just don’t forget to brush your teeth before hitting the hay!
1. Lickers
Situated in Lorong Ah Soo, Lickers is an artisanal ice cream parlour that’s a haven among the neighbourhood hipsters. Characterised by illuminated neon signs, long wooden communal tables and a wall filled with modernist artwork, you can immediately feel an aura of youthful energy surging through upon stepping in.
Open till 2 AM daily, this humble ice cream shop is run by a team of passionate artisans who are not just skilled in the art of making ice cream, but are an inventive lot too, constantly experimenting and coming up with new flavours. Their range of flavours may not be the most extensive around, but they sure do excite. We went for their signature Oolong Lavender paired alongside the crowd-favourite Dark Chocolate. Both of which were absolutely delicious.

2. Obsessive Chocolat Desire (OCD) Ice Cream Cafe
This chic neighbourhood ice cream cafe specialises in a broad range of unique chocolate ice cream flavours, giving serious chocolate lovers something to look forward to and to regular patrons, a newfound appreciation for the cocoa-based product. Chocolate lovers will be thoroughly impressed with the range of flavours they have here. They have chocolate flavours with differing intensities, sweetness and creaminess, made using cocoa beans spanning countries such as Madagascar, Africa, Belgium, Brazil and Ecuador.

3. Little Ice Cream Kafe (LICK)
Located in Tanjong Katong Road, Little Ice Cream Kafe, or in short, ‘LICK’, is a great place to stop by for a midday pick-me-up especially under Singapore’s merciless heat. This cosy local parlour serves premium but reasonably priced homemade ice cream. Their ice creams (and waffle cones) are made daily in-house, hand-churned using fresh ingredients. At any one time, they carry at least 25 flavours spanning a wide variety of flavours ranging from the good old classics to zesty fruity ones and even ones inspired by local flavours.

4. Milk & Honey Gelato
Located within close proximity of one of Bedok’s most iconic dinner and supper spots—85 Fengshan Centre—lies a casual, no-frills and super-homely gelato shop that’s perfect for curbing your post-meal dessert cravings. Delicious, handcrafted gelato, warm waffles and refreshing lemonade are ever-present mainstays on their menu and so are a concise selection of savouries but while their homemade gelato is the main draw, you’ll be impressed by their freshly-brewed coffee as well.

5. Oblong
Among the many f&b tenants that have come and gone from Serangoon Gardens, Oblong is one that has truly stood the test of time. Having been around for a really long time now, this quaint little ice cream cafe is home to incredible homemade waffles and a whopping array of homemade ice cream spanning the classics to unique local twists such as their Teh Tarik flavour. Our favourites include their Honeycomb, Earl Grey Lavender and ultra-premium Mao Shan Wang.

6. Salted Caramel
Homegrown and birthed from a passion for ice cream and a knack for flavours that are playful—and a little naughty—Salted Caramel is an artisanal ice cream parlour that has long been firm favourites of dessert lovers everywhere. All their ice cream are egg-free and scratch-made in-house daily with natural ingredients. The result? Ice cream that is boldly flavoured, creamy and rich, the way quality ice cream should be. They do have seasonal flavours but our go-to has always been their signature Salted Caramel. Light and creamy, it has a sweet toffee-like flavour that’s balanced with a buttery sweet and salty profile.

Situated just a few steps away from the popular River South (Hoe Nam) Prawn Noodles, this newly-opened ice cream parlour is where it’s if you’re keen on switching up your ice cream game. Devoid of textbook flavours, they carry a decent variety of signature flavours as well as a few seasonal offerings constantly on rotation. Signatures include their must-try Cereal Milk, Coconut Mango and Cinnamon Brown Bread and seasonal exclusives include Green Tea Yakult, Pineapple Tart, Peanut Butter, Mojito and Mixed Berries.

8. Twenty Grammes
Home to exceptional brewed coffee, a smorgasbord of homemade ice cream, waffles and bespoke artisanal bakes and patisseries, Twenty Grammes hardly ever disappoints when it comes to satisfying sweet tooth cravings. The boutique dessert joint has grown by leaps and bounds from when it first began operating as a humble coffee and waffle joint in so many regards. Now, they boast a stunning new industrial look and offer bespoke cake services for various events.
