If you’ve watched enough Hong Kong films, you’ll come to recognise Hong Kong’s Mongkok area as a district that’s commonly associated with triads, nightclubs and counterfeit goods. On the contrary, the area has developed way beyond what it once was. It is now a lively locale famous for its street food, markets and malls.
The Mongkok district has no shortage of places to unwind over a drink either, especially after you’ve perused the area’s many bustling streets and night markets. 1. Alibi – Wine Dine Be Social
Alibi is a stylish restaurant-and-bar within Cordis where modern mixology and appreciation for fine wines thrives. Offering an exceptional dining experience above the bustle of the city, it’s where good food and good company intertwine. 2. TAP: The Ale Project
TAP was the first craft beer-focused taproom to open up in Kowloon. Founded by a group of passionate beer enthusiasts whose ranks include certified beer judges, professional brewers and seasoned home-brewers; this craft beer bar is home to all sorts from fellow beer enthusiasts, local expatriates as well as hipsters.
They boast more than 15 craft beers on tap—of which six are local—and a slew of hearty bar bites inspired by Hong Kong’s illustrious cuisine. They also serve small, hearty artisanal sandwiches and other interesting nibbles to complement the drinks they pour.

3. The Garage Bar
Located out on the open garden of Cordis Hotel Hong Kong, The Garage Bar takes its cue from gothic fashion, sporting strong red and black hues. The bar curates an impressive selection of local and international craft beer. Out on the patio, you’ll find food trucks dishing out familiar Western street food fare from burgers to chips.

4. The Madhouse Taproom
The Madhouse Taproom offers a unique craft beer and craft cider experience with 20 draft taps! Patrons can also expect a specialised bottle selection from around the world. If you’re new to the realm of craft beer, the folks at The Madhouse Taproom will gladly share their knowledge (and love) for it with anyone. This surely makes a beginner’s experiences a lot less intimidating and more enjoyable! It’s also where discerning beer drinkers can sample a vast array of craft beer, be merry and possibly learn a thing or two about beer.

5. WOFT Tapas Bar & Restaurant
Sitting pretty along restaurant-laden Yim Po Street, WOFT is one of Mong Kok’s more recent entrants and a new player in Hong Kong’s vast craft beer scene. Spacious and outfitted with lots of bronze textures, tall bar stools and tall wooden tables, the bar exudes a jovial vibe. The beers are naturally the highlight, and among their vast repertoire, you’ll find an assortment of craft brews from around the world and Hong Kong. The amount of beers they carry is insane and hugely diverse—so much so that it’d be your own fault if you fail to pick out something you like.
