Nobody expected the pandemic to last over the course of two years (and counting). In Singapore, drinking past till 10:30pm remains prohibited thanks to Covid-19. But despite the restriction, numerous bars still bravely opened and managed to pull through even tougher times such as the no dine-in situation.

From brand new concepts to expanding businesses, here are 10 bars that opened in 2021 that you should visit!


1. Bar Uva – Over 150 Wine Labels

Founded by the team behind Nutmeg & Clove, Bar Uva is home to a plethora of wines over a wide range of price points. Located on the same street as its sister brand in the Bugis precinct, they offer a great selection of European dishes to be paired with their selection of wines, that is sure to satisfy all – from beginners to wine connoisseurs.

2. Brewlander – Craft Brewery in Tuas


As Singapore’s leading craft beer brand, Brewlander certainly needs no introduction. Easily identified from far by their unique and colourful designs on their products; Brewlander is also known for their bold, creative and intriguing flavours such as Mango Gose and Cherry Sundae Pastry Stout.

Their brewery opened its doors in Tuas (just a two-minute walk from the MRT) early this year and while it is not open to the public; hopheads could book weekend tours, check out the facilities and wrap up their tour in their tasting room which boasts a stunning view of Malaysia.

Note: In light of the pandemic, their brewery tours have unfortunately been halted till further notice.

3. French Fold Orchard – New Creperie Outlet at Orchard

French Fold is a popular creperie by the the same team behind Merci Marcel. The French bistro serves delicious Brittany-style galettes and crepes, with its first outlet located along Telok Ayer Street. The brand recently opened a new outlet at the ground floor of Palais Renaissance, literally just steps away from their sister brands, Maison Marcel and Merci Marcel.

5. Ju Hua Tai – Cocktail Bar Inspired by Jay Chou

6. Mikkeller Singapore – Hidden in Chinatown Complex

If you’re an avid craft beer drinker, you would have heard of Mikkeller, a world-renowned Copenhagen-based craft brewery. With their third comeback, they have set up a nice little store in the corner of Chinatown Complex Food Centre, a bold and interesting location to open a bar.
