No. 5 Emerald Hill Bar: Oriental Bar with 1-for-1 Martini Deals Daily

No 5 Emerald Hill Singapore Bar

Located in the heart of Orchard Road along Emerald Hill Road, No. 5 Emerald Hill Bar is a two-storey cocktail bar with 28 years of history under its belt. Housed within an early 1900s Peranakan shophouse, the watering hole is one of the most popular bars in Somerset and for many good reasons.

Fully decked in oriental decor, the intimate bar exudes an irresistible old-worm charm. On the ground floor, antique carvings are plastered over the concrete walls and a sheer number of red lanterns are floating above the bar counter. Framed monochrome photos adorn the walls upstairs. As you can tell, photo opportunities here are endless.

Aesthetics aside, No. 5 Emerald Hill Bar is famous for its exotic, gingerly curated cocktails and an irresistible happy hour promotion. In addition, it serves a range of delectable bar bites to curb your hunger. The bar opens till 2am (from Monday to Thursday), and 3am (on Fridays and Saturdays), which makes it a great spot for after-work drinks.

Hi-5 (S$17): Cocktail made with Chilli Vodka

Feeling adventurous? We dare you to try No. 5’s signature Hi-5 (S$17) – the cocktail’s pungent and fiery mix will leave a burning aftertaste.

An alcoholic creation that’s unique to No. 5 Emerald Hill, this drink has been around since decades ago and is especially popular amongst expatriates.

Grey Goose vodka is infused with sliced red chilli for an average of three to four months, then mixed with 1883 passion fruit syrup, yuzu juice, ginger beer and soda, before being finally topped off with 2 splashes of lime. We’d highly recommend this beverage to those in search of an intriguing tipple!

No. 5 Mexican Bulldog (S$28): Hybrid of Margarita and Beer

No 5 Emerald Hill

Quite possibly the most over-the-top cocktail you’d find on the menu is the No. 5 Mexican Bulldog ($28), which sees a combination of a margarita and beer.

An entire bottle of refreshing, ice-cold Corona sits atop a glass of zesty frozen lime margarita, making it an utterly impressive drink that’s easy to down within seconds. Unsurprisingly, the Mexican Bulldog is a hit here.

1-for-1 Martini: Available daily at No. 5 Emerald Hill Bar

Perhaps what made No. 5 Emerald Hill so well known today would be their 1-for-1 martini deal which takes place from 9pm – 1am daily.

Caution: Their No. 5 Lychee Martini is addictive. Boasting a good balance between the natural sweetness of the lychee fruit and vodka, we were hooked. Thanks to their martini deal, you can get 2 of these at just S$20! What a steal.

Next up, the Peachy Surprise (a rendition of a classic peach martini) is another fruity martini that will surely please the ladies.

The frothy drink boasts a thick texture with white peach puree and Bombay sugar syrup incorporated in, before it’s garnished with a slice of lemon.

Mini Beef Burgers (S$22)

If you’re feeling peckish while sipping on your cocktails, No. 5 Emerald Hill Bar also serves a rather extensive array of well-executed bar snacks.

For something hearty, try out their Mini Beef Burgers (S$22) which comes served with three beef sliders, a side of fries and a special dip.

Crafted with 100% beef, the patties were remarkably succulent and well seasoned.

Chicken Wings (S$12/18): Marinated with Chinese wine

Marinated with shrimp sauce and Chinese wine, these impossibly delicious Chicken Wings are an elevated version of the typical har cheong gai found at coffeeshops.

Take a whiff, you won’t forget how insanely fragrant these chicken wings are! Sink your teeth into the crispy, aromatic coating on the surface before getting a taste of how the shrimp flavour cuts all the way — a testament to how well-marinated these bad boys are.

Moist, tender and packed with flavour, this is a dish we highly recommend.

Potato Wedges (S$9)

No. 5 Emerald Hill Bar’s Potato Wedges (S$9) are served with their chef’s specially house-made garlic cream sauce. These piping hot golden brown chunks are perfect for sharing. Crunchy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, you certainly won’t be stopping at one.
