Homegrown and birthed from a passion for ice cream and a knack for flavours that are playful—and a little naughty—Salted Caramel is an artisanal ice cream parlour that has long been firm favourites of dessert lovers everywhere.
Salted Caramel’s ice cream are made in-house from scratch daily, using natural ingredients that are all egg-free. The result? Ice cream that is boldly flavoured, creamy and rich, without being overwhelmingly sweet.
If you still have room after supper then drop by for one of their artisanal treats to end off the night.
We got a Waffle with two scoops (S$10.80) to share, and our ice creams of choice were Stout & Chocolate and Baileys.
Made using real stout beer and good quality dark chocolate, the Stout & Chocolate ranks high among their various chocolate flavours. Not overly sweet, the chocolate flavour is nuanced by the subtle bitterness from the stout.
Luxuriously creamy, combining the rich taste of the Irish cream liqueur and a gentle hint of what tasted like burnt caramel, the Baileys flavour comes second to the Salted Caramel.
The ice cream comes speckled with caramel-coffee bits, giving the ice cream a more complex depth. The waffle, in all its crunchy, cinnamon-accented glory was just the perfect vessel to mop up all that delicious ice cream.
To visit a joint aptly named “Salted Caramel” without ordering their best-selling Salted Caramel (S$3.80 per single scoop) flavoured ice cream would be pretty silly, so we did.
Boasting a light brownish hue, it encompassed a sweet toffee-like flavour that is nicely balanced with a buttery sweet and salty profile.
