Guide to Summer Sonic Festival 2019 in Japan: Blackpink, Zedd & more!

Japan’s Summer Sonic festival is a feast for music lovers and folks who just love to party. The event curates some of the best acts in the world, inviting a range of rock, pop and EDM artists from across Japan and the world. This year, the line-up includes the likes of Fall Out Boy, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rita Ora, Zedd, BLACKPINK and The Chainsmokers—just to name a few.

This year, celebrating its 20th anniversary, Summer Sonic 2019 will span over three days from 16 to 18 August 2019 and will take place in both Osaka and Tokyo. Summer Sonic will be held in both the Zozo Marine Stadium and the Makuhari Messe (in Tokyo) and at the Maishima Sonic Park (in Osaka).

Summer Sonic 2019 will be a three-day party of insane proportions, we’re talking multiple stages, more than 50 artists, and a sick crowd thousands strong at least, with a bunch of awesome art and food to boot.


Getting Tickets

First things first, let’s take care of the entry passes. Tickets to Summer Sonic in Osaka are priced at 13,800 Yen (S$174) for a 1-day pass and 36,000 Yen (S$454) for a 3-day pass.

For the festival in Tokyo, tickets are priced at 15,000 Yen (S$189) for a 1-day pass and 39,000 Yen (S$492) for a 3-day pass. You can pre-purchase them via their website.

When you get to the respective venue, you’ll be given a wrist band in exchange for your ticket. For whatever reason, be it how itchy it gets or how much you want to see if you can pry it off, don’t. No band, no access.


The Line-Up


Headlining this year’s festival are some of the world’s biggest names.

Think: BLACKPINK, Rita Ora, The 1975, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fall Out Boy, The Chainsmokers, Zedd, Bring Me The Horizon, Weezer, Alan Walker and much, much more!


Other Things To Look Forward To


Besides rocking and partying hard to a stellar line-up of rock bands, international DJs and a slew of local talent, attendees can look forward to a plethora of activities to partake in too.

There’ll be food stands scattered around the event venue for you to refuel and even massage tents for you to get yourself nice and loosened up to do some serious partying—that and so much more!


Getting To Summer Sonic 2019 In Osaka


The Maishima Sonic Park otherwise referred to as Maishima Sports Island, is located right across the bay from Universal Studios Japan. Getting there is as easy as riding a train to Universal City station followed by a shuttle bus to the venue.


Getting to Summer Sonic 2019 In Tokyo


The Zozo Marine Stadium is located about a 20-minute walk from JR Kaihin-Makuhari Station on the Keiyo Line, which runs from Tokyo Station. Upon arriving at the station, hop onto a shuttle which will take you right to the event venue.
