2020: Guide to 20 Music Festivals in Southeast Asia (Ticket Prices Included)

New year, new plans.

We are so stoked to share with fellow music lovers and partygoers the awesome parties that are taking place in Southeast Asia this year. Music has always been a means of bridging two worlds – it is a form of communication that transcends cultural and language barriers.

From Rainforest World Dance Music Festival to Ultra, here is our 2020 guide to 20 Music Festivals in Southeast Asia.


1. EPIZODE (Vietnam)

EPIZODE is one of the biggest international techno festivals, but it is probably not the party for mainstream electronic dance music lovers.

Featuring many iconic electronic artists from all over the world, the stage is set to present a unique musical and visual experience on Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam – or some say paradise!

Boasting a myriad of activities – from holi, stand up paddling, open decks to water gun battles and workshops, you’ll be kept stimulated across 11 days with breathtaking sunsets to catch.

2. Good Vibes Festival (Malaysia)

We have heard many good reviews on this one. Good Vibes Festival is the largest outdoor music festival in Malaysia, renowned for its diverse DJ line-up and fun-filled activities; that means there’s something for everyone! As its name suggests, Good Vibes Festival exudes good vibes only. This is where international acts such as SZA, Petit Biscuit, Honne and even Lorde will convene for a weekend – talk about value for money!

3. It’s The Ship

It’s The Ship is undoubtedly an experience of a lifetime that partygoers would not want to miss. From themed pop-up parties to raving alongside your newly acquainted #SHIPMATES, It’s The Ship is the party you want to be at. Look forward to an amazing  DJ lineup and exciting on-deck entertainment – but what’s best would be the new friendships forged aboard.

4. Rainforest World Music Festival (Malaysia)

5. Transmission Bangkok

Transmission is a perennial front-running event in the music festival scene. Having originated in Prague, Czech Republic – the town known for the most heart-pulsating parties – it is no surprise that music lovers are willing to fly around the world just to attend these various Transmission festivals.

The cutting-edge laser show and impeccable sound system make the experience even more worthwhile – talk about a scenographic treat! Remarkable duo Aly & Fila and renowned DJ Markus Schulz will take the stage by storm.

6. Ultra Singapore

Now taking place in more than 20 countries, Ultra Music Festival is one of the most reputable music festivals in the world. Coming back to Singapore in 2019 for its fourth edition, we will be expecting no less than 40,000 festival goers raving through day and night with only the best international DJ line-up across the main, live and resistance stages!

Music aside, you can expect a series of pop-up booths located across the event ground. From boozy Häagen-Dazs ice-cream to futuristic-inspired installation of mirrors and lights, it sure does sound promising!

8. Neon Lights Festival (Singapore)

Singapore’s premier outdoor music and arts festival Neon Lights is set to return to Singapore on 23 and 24 November 2019, bringing together more than 150 music and art performances over two days in the quintessential festival for arts lovers and audiophiles alike. Dubbed as “the region’s answer to Coachella” by The Business Times, this year’s festival is set to continue to exhilarate and excite.

Joining this year’s host of international and global musicians is Brit and Grammy-Award winning British band Mumford & Sons, singer-songwriter powerhouse Halsey and more!

We The Fest (WTF) is organised by the same guys behind Southeast Asia’s greatest EDM event, Djakarta Warehouse Project. That fact alone is enough to reassure hardcore party animals. These people produce only top-notch lifestyle and entertainment events.

Since its kick-off in 2014, WTF has seen many jaw-dropping performances and presents a stellar line-up across a multitude of genres. Past gig includes The Kooks, The 1975, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Lorde, HONNE and ODESZA etc.

This annual summer festival is more than a music festival. It takes pride in making it a seamless experience for revellers by having an all-inclusive festive village – we cannot wait to see what 2019 has in store!

10. Djakarta Warehouse Project (Indonesia)

I remember my friends raving all about it, telling me its THE festival to be at. Year after year, Djakarta Warehouse Project has strived to present phenomenal line-ups, bringing in names high on the hit list such as Kriss Kross Amsterdam, Alesso, Afrojack, The Weeknd, Tiësto, Ummet Ozcan and Lost Frequencies.

The event has always been held in the capital of Indonesia but has since relocated to Bali last year. Dubbed as one of Asia’s best travel destinations for its cultural richness, gastronomic adventures and sights to see, this festival should be a legitimate consideration.

11. S2O festival (Thailand)

Songkran is Thailand’s biggest annual event, with many parties taking place across the nation throughout this three-day water festival. But no one does it better than S2O Songkran Music Festival, where partygoers can partake in water gun fights and dance to insane beats by Sick Individuals, TUJAMO, Ummet Ozcan Krewella and more.

Last year, over 56,000 revellers attended S2O. We won’t be surprised if tickets to this popular party are already on the brink of another sold-out event.

12. Kolour In The Park (Thailand)

Day-to-night festival Kolour In The Park is pushing the envelope of Bangkok’s electronic party scene. Taking place on 2 March 2019, Kolour In The Park is featuring a diverse lineup of the world’s most renowned live electronic acts and this year, you can anticipate performances by SG Lewis, Yung Bae, Charlotte De Witt and Peking Opera etc.

Paying attention to even the littlest of details – the festival’s exhibitions boast vibrant graffiti, a unique collection of art installations, roaming art performances, boutique bars, gourmet food trucks and more. There is even a free massage station that festival goers can seek refuge in after hours of dancing.

13. Wanderland Festival (Philippines)

Dubbed as “The Coachella of Philippines”, Wanderland is Manila’s biggest annual indie music and arts festival. In its seventh edition, the festival is expanding into a two-day extravaganza.

14. Legacy Festival (Singapore)


Set to make its debut at Siloso Beach Sentosa on 6 and 7 December 2019 in place of the now-defunct Zoukout, Legacy Festival is an all-new dance music extravaganza cum beach party that brings about two nights of non-stop raving madness.

Headlining the festival are world-renowned DJ acts, Tiësto, Don Diablo, and Cosmic Gate.

15. Garden Beats Festival (Singapore)

Following the success of previous events, Garden Beats Festival 2020 aims to better incorporate the message of promoting a greener lifestyle through employing the use of biodegradable materials and making vegan food options available as well. As far as live music is concerned, the event will play host to esteemed local artists and a myriad of international headliners to boot. While the full lineup has yet to be announced, phase one’s headliners reveal Foals, Sabrina Claudio and Glioli & Assia.

16. Jai Thep Festival (Thailand)

17. MAYA Music Festival (Thailand)

On the 31st of January 2020, Thailand’s most highly-anticipated music festivals, MAYA Music Festival, will return once again to celebrate its 5th anniversary at a brand new location in Pattaya, Thailand, bringing with it a host of extraordinary performers with R3HAB, Vinai, Alan Walker, Suede, Kodaline and LANY among the ranks of headline artists.

In light of the occasion, this year’s festival will take place in a brand new location in Pattaya, Thailand, spread out across more than a hundred acres of lush open fields.

18. New Vision Music & Art Festival (Cambodia)

A new trance-centric music event is coming to Cambodia this February. Aptly named, ‘New Vision’, this eco-friendly festival focuses on promoting wellness and positivity through a series of workshops, health and fitness-related activities, art and of course, a stellar cast of trance music artists. Trance music fans are in for a real treat as the lineup will feature an international repertoire of renowned trance DJs. There’ll be three stages present at the event to accommodate the expansive list of DJs and live bands.

19. UnKonscious Festival (Thailand)

Held at Paradise Beach Club in Phuket, Thailand, UnKonscious Festival returns for two solid nights of epic trance. Widely hailed as the biggest trance event in Thailand, the festival sees the convergence of several world-renowned trance DJ’s from all over the world.

20. Hydeout Festival (Singapore)


A music extravaganza that sets itself apart from other festivals in this part of the world, immerse yourself into a world re-imagined, as The Meadows at Gardens By The Bay is transformed into a prison of art and music for two weekends in April 2020.
